What does the law say the penalty could be?
Pick a level, a jurisdiction, then a crime. You get the statutory penalty range as written in the law — the fine range and imprisonment range the statute sets for that offence and tier. Nothing here is a prediction of any individual sentence.
Check the possible punishment
For legal awareness and education — see the punishment range the law sets for an offence. Pick a level, a jurisdiction, an offence, and the situation as the statute itself defines it.

How this site works
- Ranges only. No single predicted sentence, ever.
- Central and state. State pages exist only for countries where state law sets its own criminal penalties (USA, India, United Kingdom). Where a state sets no separate criminal penalty, the entry says so and links the central range instead of repeating it.
- Filters only where the statute defines tiers. If the law sets no quantity bracket, there is no quantity filter.
- Verified vs possibly. 380 entries across central and state law show ranges verified against official sources (green “Verified against official source” badge). 1282 entries show reported ranges marked “Possibly — unconfirmed” in amber — the figure is reported but has not yet been confirmed against official text. Do not rely on those ranges.
- Verification pending. 36 entries have no reliable figure at all, so they show no figure — a “Verification pending” state.
- Drug entries report tiers as the law states them. They are never framed as “how much you can carry or sell.”
- Last verified: 2026-10-19. Laws change; every entry carries its source so you can re-check.
